April Showers Bring May Flowers!

We’ve been experiencing plenty of rain lately, and while the sun hasn’t fully come out yet, spring flowers are already in full bloom! The foliage is magnificent, and in our greenhouses, we’ve been busy nurturing tropicals, herbs, veggies, and of course, our beautiful annuals and hanging baskets—just in time for the April and May blooming season.
You’ve asked, and we’re delivering more of what you’ve requested! We do our best to keep our social media updated with what’s in season, but since we take pride in offering fresh, ready-to-plant goods in our garden centre, some items might not be on the floor just yet. Rest assured, they are being carefully nurtured until they are ready.
However, if you’re eager to get your hands on something specific, let one of our staff members know (maybe even mention that Mei sent you), and we might be able to bring something special from Greenhouses 8 and 9 just for you! But best to call or email us to ask for something specific so we can have it ready for you.
Upcoming Workshops

We’re excited to announce more workshops this season! Gardener Kate will be hosting two “Make and Take” workshops in one day. This hands-on experience allows you to create and take home a beautiful planter or centerpiece for your next gathering. Since materials are provided, there is a cost associated with Make & Take Workshops. Please reach out to Gardener Kate directly for more details and payment information.
Additionally, we have something special for all pet lovers! Sandy, a talented artist with a passion for capturing the personality and soul of animals through graphite and paper, will be hosting a Draw Your Own Pet Portrait workshop in April. She makes learning fun, accessible, and rewarding so that you can leave with a piece of artwork you’re truly proud of. For THIS workshop , you can pay in person, and Sandy will have extra supplies available for purchase, but be sure to register in advance to secure your spot!
Vendor Features this month:
NOAHS: We are part of the North Oyster Historical Society which owns and looks after the Old North Oyster School on Cedar Road. We have a large maternity colony of Bats in our attic. The majority are the Little Brown Myotis, which are considered endangered because of White Nose Disease. We gather the guano from the attic ( once the bats have left), we package up the dried Guano and sell it. 100% of the sales go towards installing equipment to monitor the bats, maintaining their roosting site, or for educating the public on the benefits of the Bats.
NOAHS will be bringing packaged Bat Guano to sell, along with instructions on how to use it, and a list of plants that benefit from the higher Nitrogen. I will also let people know about our annual Bat Counts at the school.
Peanut Butter Kisses & Treats: You might have already had your furbaby try one of Sarah’s healthy natural treats at the garden centre where she’s been donating some of her favourite goodies to serve our 4 legged visitors at the farm since 2023! She’s passionate about crafting treats made with love and locally sourced ingredients! Using the finest Vancouver Island proteins and farm-fresh ingredients, she creates drool-worthy snacks designed to keep pets happy and healthy. She handcrafts natural, wholesome treats that are as nutritious as they are delicious.

On Saturday, April 19th, she will be at the farm selling her favorite treats while Sandy teaches the pet portrait workshop. Stop by to pick up something special for your furry friend!
